Welcome to SteamboatSpringsFlyFishing.com.  My name is Jon and I am fortunate to live here in Steamboat Springs, Colorado with my family.   Like most people in Steamboat I spend time doing a lot of different sports.  Over time, my interests have grown to include fly-fishing as a great way to spend time with family and friends.  There is something special about fly-fishing and I hope to spend more and more time on the rivers going forward. We have an incredible set of rivers here that you can’t help but fall in love with and the chance to pursue our elusive trout in so much great water is quite addicting.

The purpose of this site is to help you learn more about fly fishing in Steamboat, help you and I get out fishing more and increase the quality of our local trout habitat. Be careful if you come here as the Curse of the Yampa Valley may keep bringing you back just like it did to me.  My day job as a Realtor has given me the opportunity to meet a lot of great people who have as much passion for living and playing in Steamboat as I do.  If you are looking for more fishing buddies to get you out on the water I can help you meet some of them.

As you probably know, learning to fly-fish is a special journey that I hope will never end.  Hopefully this site is useful for your journey too.   Let’s get out and enjoy the rivers in Steamboat and maybe even share some time on the water.  In designing this site I thought about what I would want to know about fishing in Steamboat and how I could help people appreciate how special it is here.  I have a whole list of ideas for this so check back over time. The video flyovers of our local water are gorgeous and I think that they will help you get a feel for the possibilities here. The flyover of the Elk River is a particular favorite of mine.  I haven’t found anything like them elsewhere.  I have tried to include different information helpful for everyone, from first-time fly fishers to experienced veterans.  If you have ideas on how it could be better just drop me a line…
